SHOW #152
TD BankNorth Garden
Boston, Massachusetts
Announcer: Joey Styles
Just three days before Vendetta, Shockwave returned to the shores of America after a week long tour of the United Kingdom. Everyone who had invested interest in Vendetta was set to be in attendance which guarenteed an exciting evening. The action began right from the start as Rocky Romero made his way down to the ring to face the "Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels.
Singles Contest
Rocky Romero vs. "Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels
» Romero struck early on with low strikes to the legs of Daniels, but Daniels soon grabbed hold of Rocky's leg and tripped him down onto the canvas. Daniels sent Romero into the ropes, took him down with a hiptoss and dropkicked him in the back of the head. Daniels then attempted the Best Moonsault Ever, but Romero was able to roll to safety. Romero then set Daniels up for the Tiger Suplex, but Daniels floated over and countered into the Angel's Wings for the victory.
Winner(s): "Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels
Aftermath:
Whilst the referee had Christopher Daniels' hand raised in victory, Chris Jericho could be seen jumping the guard rail in the background and sliding into the ring. However, Daniels was watching on the giant screen and turned just to catch Jericho with his fist pulled back. Jericho instantly stopped in his tracks and backed off, climbing back out of the ring. As the two men shared an intense staredown, Jericho walked up the ramp whilst talking smack about Daniels. Daniels then got on the microphone and told Jericho that he could only run away for so long because come Vendetta they will settle their score and Daniels will earn the right to get his title back.
Backstage:
Maria Kanellis was joined backstage by the team of Ricky Marvin and Kotaro Suzuki. In his broken English, Ricky Marvin told Maria that he was obviously rooting for the Motor City Machine Guns in the main-event but hoped they left a little bit of KENTA to face him at Vendetta so that he could take home the Junior Grand Prix Championship. Ricky also stated that since KENTA and Marufuji were known to do whatever it takes to get the cheap win, they had been appointed as ringside enforcers for the match just to make sure the fans get the best main-event possible.
Tag Team Contest
World's Greatest Tag Team vs. The Hooliganz
» Kendrick and London tried to talk sense into Haas and Benjamin, but they weren't listening and were only there to wrestle. Haas threw London through the ropes leaving Kendrick alone. Haas guillotined Kendrick's on the ropes as Benjamin jumped over his shoulders and sat on Kendrick's lower back. London then pulled Haas off of the pinfall attempt and hit Benjamin with a Tornado DDT. Kendrick managed Sliced Bread #2 but Homicide and Senshi hit the ring swinging chairs.
Winner(s): No-Contest
Aftermath:
Homicide and Senshi went straight to work on both teams who had by then become very tired and vulnerable to attack. Paul London showed signs of a comeback when he caught Homicide with a Dropsault, but Senshi was straight onto him with a Double Stomp between his shoulder blades. As Tazz shouted orders from ringside, the Global Tag Team Champions finished the job with a Cop Killa on Charlie Haas and a Ki Krusher on Brian Kendrick. Tazz opened the ropes for both men to leave the ring and the trio looked very pleased with what they had achieved.
Backstage:
Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin spoke to Mean Gene about their upcoming shot at the JGP Tag Team Championships and said that it was the biggest match in their career as a team. Shelley said that they had both travelled from the streets of Detroit, all around the world to Japan and back to America, and tonight was going to be the celebration of all the hard work. Sabin told Mean Gene of their respect for KENTA and Marufuji, but just said that added to their desire to beat them, to take the Championships and establish themselves as one of the best teams in the sport.
In the Arena:
Whilst Samoa Joe awaited his opponent for the evening, CM Punk made his way down to the ring with a microphone in his hand. Punk said that when he was picking the right guy to take on Joe he needed someone with the mentality of a Bounty Hunter. Someone who was willing to go the extra mile to destroy anyone who was put infront of him, and he was confident that he had found the right man. Punk then introduced his "Bounty Hunter" Brent Albright onto the stage.
Singles Contest
"Bounty Hunter" Brent Albright vs. Samoa Joe
» Both men went straight to work trading forearms to the face until Albright caught Joe with a European uppercut sending him into the corner. Albright hit a running clothesline, but when he attempted the second, he was made to regret it with a huge ST-Joe slam. Joe attempted to send Albright across the ring but Albright pulled Joe in and belly-to-belly suplexed him. Joe came back strong with chops and a German Suplex. Joe was then caught by Punk who hit a low-blow.
Winner(s) by Disqualification: Samoa Joe
Aftermath:
Samoa Joe was stunned for a moment after the low blow, and Albright used this opening to take Joe down to the canvas and lock on a Fujiwara armbar. Punk grabbed the microphone once again and got down into Joe's face. Punk asked Joe who he had picked to face him tonight, and with one last gasp of breath, Joe screamed "ME!". Joe then reached out his free hand and slapped Punk across the face. Albright then sinched in the Armbar further as Punk put the boots to the shoulder and face area. Referees filled the ring to try and force them away from Joe, but the damage had been done as Joe held onto his now injured shoulder. Medics were called down to the ring as Punk and Albright walked up the ramp acting as if nothing had happened.
Backstage:
Moments before the main-event, the Undisputed C4 Champion spoke with Maria Kanellis about his match on Saturday against Matt Classic. Edge said that whatever happened after the match didn't matter, because the history books say that Edge won the match and is still the Undisputed C4 Champion, and this Saturday will be no different. Edge said that it's just a matter of going through the motions because Rob didn't stand a chance against a far superior athlete. Rob then joined the conversation, much to the displeasure of the Champion. Rob said that the look he saw in Edge's eyes on Saturday told a different story. Rob thought that Edge was a scared man who was losing grip already on the gold. Edge said that Rob was crazy, but Rob said that he had nothing to lose so it was up to Edge to prove him wrong. Rob then left Edge seething.
JGP Tag Team Championships
Champions, The Rising Sons vs. Motor City Machine Guns
» Naomichi Marufuji started the match for the Champions, leaving KENTA standing on the apron constantly looking over his shoulder at Ricky Marvin and Kotaro Suzuki who were minding their own business standing at ringside. Marufuji and Sabin exchanged rights but Marufuji took control by grabbing Sabin's head, jumping over the top rope and guillotining Sabin's neck. KENTA was tagged in and quickly Springboarded into a flying clothesline, taking Sabin down to the canvas.
» Shelley quickened the pace by running through several clothesline attempts from KENTA, then sliding through his legs before finally landing a Dropkick knocking KENTA through the ropes and onto the outside. KENTA then stared down with Ricky Marvin which allowed Shelley to connect with a Baseball slide which sent KENTA crashing into Marvin and Suzuki. This then broke down into a ringside brawl before Sabin came from the top rope with a Crossbody to take them all out.
» Back in the ring, Marufuji caught Shelley with a Superkick and then went for the Shiranui but Shelley threw Marufuji over the top rope which also knocked KENTA from the apron. Ricky Marvin quickly acted upon his duties and rolled Marufuji back into the ring who turned to argue with him for his actions. Sabin once again jumped from the top and hit Marufuji with a Dropkick which sent him into Shelley who was waiting with the Shellshock to win the match and capture the belts.
Winner(s) and new JGP Tag Team Champions: Motor City Machine Guns
Aftermath:
KENTA rolled back into the ring but was too late. He held his head in his hands and couldn't believe that he had lost one of his Championships. KENTA looked up at the ramp where the Motor City Machine Guns were celebrating, and then to the outside where Ricky Marvin was standing with a confident grin on his face. Shockwave then faded out with Larry Sweeney trying to calm KENTA down who was going crazy while Ricky Marvin was watching on laughing.
