Following a short video wrapping up last week's Night of Champions, Shockwave opened with Paul Heyman walking to the ring followed by Junior Grand Prix Champion, KENTA and the man who will challenge the Undisputed C4 Champion in three weeks, Naomichi Marufuji. Paul stood in the middle of the ring, as he was handed the microphone from the ring announcer.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, I would like to begin by congratulating Chris Jericho on becoming the first ever three-time Undisputed Champion. However, as you are all aware, my client Naomichi Marufuji will be challenging Chris Jericho in just three weeks at the Budokan, and I'm feeling pretty confident that he'll be walking away the next Undisputed Champion. However, tonight is about big announcements, one that I've been holding off ever since I came back. People have been wondering why I could pull the right strings to get both of my clients title shots, well it's simply because the strings I've been pulling have been my own. As soon as Steve Austin put this company up for sale, I was there to negotiate for the best price, and now I own the Global Wrestling Alliance! Let the era of the Evil Genius begin, welcome to my world!"
The crowd was stunned as Paul Heyman let out an evil laugh. KENTA and Marufuji patted him on the shoulder and shook his hand before leaving together as one dominant, powerful group.
Backstage:
For the first time since 2005, Chris Jericho appeared on Shockwave as the tog dog with the Undisputed C4 Championship over his shoulder. Maria Kanellis asked him how it felt to be the Champion once again, and what his plans were for his victory celebration tonight. Before he could answer, Samoa Joe walked into camera and directly asked for a title match. He said that Jericho may have won the match, but he never pinned Joe, so he wanted a title match.
"Who the hell do you think you are? Just because you're a 600-pound Samoan Assclown, that doesn't give you the right to walk around here and throw your weight about. Granted, you have more weight to throw than anyone else around here, but that doesn't mean a thing. If you missed what Paul just said, he's calling the shots around here, not you. And anyway, what makes you think you deserve a title shot anyway? Christopher Daniels pinned you, and I pinned Daniels, it's the circle of life my friend. My next opponent is Mr. Marufuji, and unless you eat him..."
Chris tapped Joe on the stomach, but Joe quickly knocked his hand away.
"Easy there big fella. Like I was saying, Naomichi Marufuji is next in line for a shot, and as far as I'm concerned, you're an afterthought, a big fat lump that marks the end of the line. I hope you enjoyed your stint as the Champion, because it's not going to happen again.. ever! Now please step aside and let me pass because I have thousands of fans to entertain!"
Jericho began to walk past Samoa Joe, but Joe snapped. He grabbed Jericho by his shirt and threw him against the wall. Maria ran away screaming as Joe got right into Jericho's face.
"Listen to me you little piece of... just listen closely. I don't care who you paid to help you win that title that you claim is yours, but it still belongs to me. Everyone knows that if I had a one-on-one rematch against Daniels, I would be standing here as Champion. So forgive me if I can't just let this go, but I will be Undisputed Champion again, and I don't care how many people I have to go through to do it. So go and entertain, go and celebrate your victory, but I'll be waiting!"
Joe let Jericho drop back down to his feet, fixed his shirt and walked off leaving the Undisputed Champion a little shaken. Jericho picked the title up, dusted it off and left the area.
Double Elimination Series
Sean Waltman vs. Jack Evans
» After showing off with some break dancing moves, Jack Evans was slapped straight across the face by Sean Waltman who then went to work with several forearm shots. With Evans trapped in the corner, Sean whipped Evans into the opposite corner with such velocity that Evans shot out and landed face first on the canvas. As Sean went to pick Evans up, he was quickly thrown through the ropes. Evans then knocked Waltman down with a baseball slide.
» Jack pulled himself back up to his feet and instantly ran the ropes and went into a cartwheel corkscrew plancha, landing on Waltman and knocking him to the ground. Back in the ring, Jack backed Sean into the corner and connected with a Spinning Heel Kick, sending himself over the top rope and onto the apron. With a last gasp move, Sean ran from the corner and clotheslined Evans from the apron, sending him head over heels face first onto the mats outside.
» Sean rolled Jack back into the ring for a two count. As Sean grabbed Evans to pull him back to his feet, Evans tripped Sean's legs and took him down. Evans then rolled through with a bridge for a cover, but only got a two-count. Sean ducked through a Roundhouse Kick and connected with the X-Factor, but only got another close two. Sean took Jack to the top rope, but Jack countered with a strong right hand and landed the Corkscrew 630 for the victory.
Winner: Jack Evans
Backstage:
Chris Benoit was shown sitting down playing with the tape around his wrists when he is tapped on the shoulder. Chris looks up to see Edge standing over him. Edge told Benoit that he was impressed by how he took out Van Dam last week, but he would have appreciated being in the loop because he warmed up for a match for nothing. Benoit stood up and got in Edge's face, and told him that he was going to do whatever he wanted, whenever he wanted. Edge smiled and said that he respected that kind of brutal honesty. Edge left the room, leaving Benoit in peace.
Inside the Arena:
The local Paparazzi swarmed around the entrance way as MNM stepped out in style. Closely behind them were the GWA Paparazzi, Alex Shelley and Johnny Devine. Both Alex and Johnny had handheld cameras filming MNM's every move. Melina took a microphone and asked if there was any team brave enough to step up to MNM's challenge, because if there were, they would simply be a stepping stone to show Paul Heyman that MNM should be the next Global Tag Team Champions. After a moment of silence, Tony Mamaluke came out from the back. He said that he believed MNM's victory over him and Helms was a fluke, and he wanted another shot. However since Helms was already set for a match, he got hold of an old friend to help him out.
Tag Team Contest
MNM (w. Melina Perez) vs. Tony Mamaluke and Little Guido
» Little Guido stepped out from the back and the former Full Blooded Italians ran down to the ring and slid through the legs of their opponents. As MNM turned around, they were met with forearm shots across the face. Nitro caught Mamaluke with a knee in the mid-section and then helped his partner by catching Guido with a clothesline. As the teams took to their respective corners, Nitro sat Mamaluke on the top rope and slapped him across the face, knocking him out of the ring.
» Back in the ring and Mercury got involved, isolating Mamaluke in enemy territory with hard elbows across the face and an uppercut to the chin. Mercury pulled Mamaluke from the corner by his leg but got an Enzeguri to the face, knocking him down. Mamaluke crawled to Guido for the hot tag. Guido cleared house with clotheslines and dropkicks, but Melina tripped his foot as he ran the ropes. MNM took advantage and lifted him up for a Snapshot to get the win.
Winners: MNM
Inside the Arena:
The countdown clock appeared on the video screen which signalled the arrival of the new Undisputed C4 Champion, Chris Jericho. With the belt wrapped around his waist, Jericho had his cocky strut back with him as he swaggered down to the ring. Mid-way through his ring introduction, Jericho snatched the microphone from the ring announcer and told him to leave.
"These monkeys know who I am! They know that I am the King of the World, they know that I am the Ayatollah of Rock-and-Rollah, they all know that I am the true top dog in the Global Wrestling Alliance because I am once again, your Undisputed C4 Champion. It's been too long since I've been able to hold this title in my arms and call it my own, but the waiting is now over. So tonight we are here to celebrate the career of the Sexy Beast known to you as Chris Jericho! And without further ado, roll the tape monkeys and witness the greatness of the greatest!"
Before any video could begin to play, the music of Shawn Michaels interupted proceedings, and the Heartbreak Kid himself stepped out from behind the curtain. Jericho didn't seem too impressed and stood against the ring ropes with an angry look on his face.
"Chris, you know me, I'm not normally one to upset anyone, but I just had to come out here and fulfill a promise that I made to myself. I said that whoever would walk out from the Sunshine State Showdown as Undisputed Champion would hear from me, and here we are. You see, I'm the kind of guy who thinks he's the best, and now is the time that I need to either prove myself right or prove myself wrong. So here I am to challenge you to a Championship match".
The crowd cheered and obviously approved, but Jericho had other ideas on his mind.
"Once again, Chris Jericho is the Champion that gets everyone talking. You see Shawn, much like Samoa Joe, you don't realise that I already have a challenger lined up, and his name is..."
Without even saying his name, Naomichi Marufuji suddenly appeared behind Jericho, standing on the apron. Marufuji jumped to the top rope and used it as a springboard to dropkick Jericho in the back and knock him flat on his face. Naomichi then picked the Undisputed Championship belt up from the canvas and seemed to admire it for a while. But as Jericho began to pick himself back up, Marufuji dropped the belt and slid under the bottom rope and ran through the crowd.

As Paul Heyman got settled into his office, CM Punk and Homicide burst through the door. Punk said that he thought Heyman was a cool guy, someone that he could work closely with, but now that's been thrown right out of the window. Punk wanted to know what The Hooliganz had done to derserve another title shot. Heyman leaned backwards on his chair, placed his feet up onto his desk and rested his hands behind his head. Heyman said that he wasn't looking for a stressful first night, but since they asked, he told Punk and Homicide that he didn't deserve a pair of his Champions cheating to defend them. Secondly, it's in his best interest to give the fans what they want, and he could think of nothing better than an exciting Ladder match. Heyman thanked them for their concerns and then dismissed them from his office.
Double Elimination Series
Jamie Noble vs. Gregory Helms
» Noble viciously went to work on Helms, totally disregarding the referee as he tangled Helms in the ring ropes and drove his knee into his lower back. Noble released Helms from the ropes and whipped him across the ring and took him down with a driving knee to the ribs, sending him over his knee and down onto the canvas. Helms rolled around the ring holding his ribs as Noble ran the ropes and dropped a double-knee drop into the side of Helms and covered for a two.
» As Helms attempted a comeback, Noble quickly cut him off and lifted him onto his shoulders where he threw him into the air and dropped to his back, thrusting his knees into the ribs of the falling Helms. Noble lifted Helms up for the Tiger Bomb, but Helms came back with rights into Noble's face, knocking him onto his back. Helms quickly ran the ropes and as Noble set up, Helms hit the Shining Wizard, dropping Noble to the canvas. Helms then covered for the upset.
Winner: Gregory Helms

Back in Paul Heyman's office, Chris Jericho was next to storm through the door. This time, Paul had both Naomichi Marufuji and KENTA standing behind him, ready to sort out anyone who tried to make some trouble. Jericho wanted to know what Naomichi Marufuji thought he was doing by jumping him from behind and touching Jericho's Undisputed Championship. Paul said that in the situation, Naomichi got a little excited and wanted to make his intentions known. Naomichi wants to become Undisputed Champion, and he'll do everything at the Budokan to make that dream come true. Jericho just pointed at Naomichi and told him that if he wanted to try another move like that again, come to him face-to-face otherwise things could eventually get very ugly.
Global Tag Team Championship Ladder Match
Champions, King's Road vs. The Hooliganz
» The bell sounded to signal the start of the match and a brawl instantly broke out between the two teams. Homicide rained down with a forearms across Spanky's back and then threw him out of the ring, leaving London to fight it out alone. Punk and Homicide sent London across the ring with a double irish-whip, but London came back and knocked both both down with a double clothesline. Spanky threw a chair into London who cracked Homicide over the head with it.
» Spanky then lifted one of the ladders onto the apron and slid it into the ring for London to set up in the centre of the ring. As London began to climb the ladder, Spanky exchanged rights with Punk in the corner. Homicide, who now had blood running down his face, caught up with London and pulled him back down to the canvas. London attempted a clothesline, but Homicide ducked through and then whipped London face first into the Ladder, knocking onto it's side.
» Homicide laid the ladder leaning on the top turnbuckle and set London up for a Suplex, but Spanky ran in and clubbed Homicide's back. Punk ran over from the corner, but Spanky ducked down and launched him with a back body drop and he landed on the Ladder. Spanky stepped through the ropes and springboarded from the top rope, landing a stomp on Punk's chest. Spanky began to pull the Ladder from the corner, but Homicide threw the chair as his face.
» As Spanky staggered back from the ropes, Homicide caught him up in the Cop Killer and drove him head first onto the canvas. Homicide set the Ladder up and climbed all the way to the top but was low blowed by London just as he reached for the title belts. London climbed up the opposite side of the Ladder, jumped over Homicide and took him from the Ladder with a Sunset Flip into a Powerbomb. The match became stalemate as all four men were laid out across the ring.
» Punk slowly pulled himself back up and cautiously climbed up the Ladder that he had set back up in the ring. Punk got to the top and reached into the air when Spanky began tipping the Ladder which knocked Punk from it. Punk landed with the top rope between his legs and he slowly fell out of the ring. Spanky reset the Ladder and tackled Homicide, knocking both out of the ring. Now alone, London climbed up the Ladder and claimed the Championship belts to end the match.
Winners, and the 12th Global Tag Team Champions: The Hooliganz
Aftermath:
London passed down the second Championship belt down to his partner who collapsed back down to the canvas, clutching onto the belt. Punk remained outside of the ring, but Homicide slid back into the ring, picked up a steel chair and pulled it back to use on London. However, Daniels jumped over the guard rail and tripped Homicide up by grabbing his leg from under the bottom rope. The Fallen Angel then dragged Homicide from the ring and began to rain down on him with rights across the forehead. Security eventually pulled Daniels away from Homicide, but he had left the message he had wanted to get across. As the scene cleared up, London and Spanky were left to celebrate their third Tag Team Championship title with a standing ovation.
