"A Champion is defined as one that is clearly superior or has the attributes of a winner. Tonight we celebrate these men who take one step ahead of the rest, stand taller than all others, push themselves just that little bit further. Tonight is their night. Tonight, is the Night of Champions!"
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess presents.. Night of Champions XIII
As "Land of Confusion" from Disturbed played in the background, Jim Ross and Tazz welcomed the viewers at home to the special 2-hour Shockwave. Thirteen is typically known as an unlucky number, so it was no surprise that every Champion was on edge as Shockwave presented the 13th Night of Champions, known as the Sunshine State Showdown.
Junior Grand Prix Championship
Champion, KENTA (w. Paul Heyman) vs. Petey Williams
» The match started off with KENTA attacking the legs of Williams with quick strikes. He then pushed Petey into the corner where he connected with several slaps across the head followed by an irish-whip into the opposite corner. KENTA chased after Petey for a clothesline, but Petey side-stepped out of the way. As KENTA bounced from the corner, Petey took him down with a leg sweep STO. Following a quick elbow across the throat, Petey covered for a two-count.
» Petey shoved KENTA into the corner and chopped across his chest. KENTA ducked through on a clothesline attempt, kicked Petey in the mid-section and executed a Tornado DDT which guillotined Petey across the top rope. KENTA then springboarded from the top rope and knocked Petey down with a flying clothesline. As Petey set up, KENTA ran the ropes and attempted the running Knee, but Petey rolled through and hit KENTA with a standing dropkick to the chin.
» Following a two-count, Petey attempted an irish-whip, but KENTA ducked through and pulled Petey onto his shoulders for the Go to Sleep. However, Petey blocked the knee strike, kicked KENTA in the mid-section and set up the Canadian Destroyer. Just as he went to flip through to hit the move, once again, KENTA lifted Petey onto his shoulders, but this time he was able to execute the Go to Sleep move. KENTA then crawled over to cover Petey for the pinfall.
Winner, and still JGP Champion: KENTA
Aftermath:
Paul Heyman stepped into the ring and handed the JGP Championship belt to KENTA. Paul had also brought a microphone into the ring and raised it to his mouth as Naomichi Marufuji joined the party from the back. Paul said that we had just seen was an example of dominance that was going to continue here in the GWA. He then said that it was time to drop a bombshell on the GWA but KENTA whispered something into his ear, and Heyman agreed to wait until next week.
Backstage:
Shawn Michaels was sitting in his locker room when there was a knock at the door. Shawn stood up to answer, but the door was already opened by Samoa Joe. Shawn offered Joe a drink but Joe turned him down saying that what he had to say wouldn't take long. He said that he heard what Shawn had to say last week about wanting the first shot at whoever walked out as Undisputed Champion, and obviously thought he was taking to him. Joe told Shawn that they had faced many times before, and the result would be no different with the Undisputed Championship on the line. Shawn just smiled and wished Joe luck. Joe turned and walked out of the room.
A Paparazzi Production:
After both Alex Shelley and Johnny Devine were forced to apologise to Melina for what was said last week, they were allowed another interview with her. Melina said that she was very disappointed with GWA management for leaving them off of tonight's card, but she was going to do something about. Melina then issued an open-challenge to any team to face MNM next week so they could prove to the world what they can do, and that they truly deserve to be the next Global Tag Team Champions. Devine said that maybe they could face MNM next week, which recieved a silent stare from both Melina and Shelley. Nitro and Mercury were asked then to escort both men from the room with Melina shouting that they were either with them or against them. Outside of the room, Shelley banged on the door and shouted, "WILMA!".

Maria Kanellis was joined backstage with Paul London and Spanky who are set to challenge King's Road for the Global Tag Team Championships later in the evening. London said that Petey Williams was an inspiration to the team, because he proved that even after a long and hard battle against evil, good will eventually prevail. Spanky came in and told Maria that it was Petey's story that made them sure that they would walk out of Orlando as 3-time Tag Team Champions.
Double Elimination Series
Senshi vs. Tony Mamaluke
» The former Tag Team Champion obviously wasn't too impress by Mamaluke's antics because before the match got started, Senshi pushed Mamaluke's scooter over. Mamaluke didn't take to his very well and ambushed Senshi with a blur of rights and lefts. Eventually Senshi was able to push Mamaluke away and decapitate him with a Clothesline. Senshi pulled Mamaluke back to his feet but knocked him straight back down with a stiff shin kick right across the chest.
» Following a Suplex infront of the turnbuckles, Senshi climbed up to the top rope and dropped down with a Double Stomp onto Mamaluke's chest. Mamaluke rolled around the ring coughing and holding his chest before Senshi had seen enough and moved in for the kill. Senshi picked him up and lifted him onto his shoulders. Senshi then ran forward and dropped Mamaluke neck first into the canvas with the Ki Krusher. Senshi then hooked the leg as the referee counted the pin.

Rob Van Dam was making last minute preparations for his tag team match tonight, but he was blind-sided with an attack from Chris Benoit. Benoit knocked Van Dam to the ground and hit him with several crossfaces and finally locked in the Crippler Crossface submission hold. Referees surrounded the scene and tried to pull Benoit from Van Dam, but he was locked on. Finally, Chris let go of Van Dam but began to scare off the referees. Benoit turned Rob over and slapped him across the face. He told Rob that he could forget about the scheduled match because he wasn't good enough to be in the ring with Benoit, and his only choice was to prove him wrong!
Backstage:
Chris Jericho stepped up to the interview with Mean Gene with a huge smile on his face. Chris said that for the very first time in his career, he could safely say that he could relate to such peons as Spanky and Paul London. Because he to was on a long journey back to the top, and he too was set on becoming a 3-time Champion, but unlike them, he actually had the talent needed to fulfill his goals rather than youthful ignorance. He claimed that eighteen months was too long for him to be without gold, and so tonight was his night to shine, and take his spot at the top!
Global Tag Team Championships
Champions, King's Road vs. The Hooliganz
» King's Road pretended to play a game of "rock, paper, scissors" to determine who would start the match, but stopped before selecting and rushed The Hooliganz. Homicide clotheslined Spanky over the top rope as Punk drove his knee into the ribs of Paul London. Punk dragged London to the centre of the ring by his hair and dropped a knee across his face. Winners, by Disqualification: The Hooliganz

Homicide then pulled Spanky up to his knees, allowing Punk to run at him and take him down with the Shining Wizard. Punk lifted Spanky's head up and shoved the title belt into his face and screamed at him, telling him that he would never have the belt and should leave them alone or next time they won't leave them breathing. Homicide and Punk then left triumphant.
Backstage:
Christopher Daniels was shown walking towards the ring and was approached by Maria to get some last words before he went out to defend his Undisputed Championship. Daniels stopped and thanked Maria for actually mentioning that the Undisputed Championship was his, and not still Samoa Joe's. Daniels reminded everyone at home that when he beat Joe for the title, he beat him fair and square, cleanly in the middle of the ring with a three count. Daniels said that he had paid his dues to be called Undisputed Champion, and that wasn't going to come to an end tonight.
Undisputed C4 Championship
Champion, Christopher Daniels vs. Samoa Joe vs. Chris Jericho
» After the formal introductions, Jericho stepped towards Joe and spat on his chest. Joe lost his temper instantly and went after Jericho who quickly ducked out of the ring. Daniels caught Joe from behind with a forearm smash, but an angry Joe just turned and shoved him away. At ringside, Jericho had already removed the top from an announce table. Joe stepped out of the ring to make chase, but as he ran around the ring, Daniels caught him with a Crossbody.
» Daniels rolled Joe back into the ring, but was clotheslined by Jericho. Back in the ring, Jericho stomped on Joe's chest with his boots in the corner, and elbowed Daniels before he could get an attack in from behind. Jericho knocked Daniels back with a couple of rights, and then swept his legs away for the Walls of Jericho. However, before he could get the move locked on, Joe hit the ropes and almost took Jericho's head from his shoulders with a huge running boot to the face.
» Joe then sat Daniels on the top rope for a possible Muscle Buster, but Daniels fought him off with a slap across the face followed with a Diving Tornado DDT. Daniels then covered Joe for the pinfall, but Jericho broke it off at two. Daniels got back to his feet and ducked through a right hand from Jericho and took him down with an STO. Daniels then hit the Best Moonsault Ever on Jericho and covered for the two before Joe just about pulled him away from Jericho.
» Daniels was knocked back into the corner from a huge uppercut from Joe, who then again placed him on the top rope. This time, Joe was able to set Daniels up for the Muscle Buster, but as he walked Daniels out from the corner, Jericho swept Joe's legs away. Joe fell backwards and still hit the Muscle Buster, but Jericho had his legs and began to turn him over. Even though he fought hard, Joe was soon turned over and the Walls of Jericho was locked on.
» As it looked like Joe was about to tap, Daniels somehow came back and hit the back of Jericho's head with a clothesline, breaking the hold. Joe rolled out to the apron and began to pull himself up to his feet by the ropes, but Daniels dropkicked him which knocked him from the apron and through the announcer's desk! The whole crowd stood to it's feet and a chant began in the building making reference to religious feces. The referee left the ring to check up on him.
» With the referee out of the ring, Daniels double-underhooked Jericho's arms and landed the Angel's Wings. However, Daniels didn't go for the cover as he saw Homicide and Punk running down to the ring. Daniels exchanged rights with Punk before being struck by a title belt across the forehead by Homicide. As Daniels laid busted open, Punk dragged Jericho ontop of him. The referee then returned to the ring, and seeing Jericho with the cover, he counted the three!
Winner, and NEW Undisputed Champion: Chris Jericho
Aftermath:
Homicide and Punk pulled Chris Jericho from the ring and carry him and his newly won Undisputed Championship belt up the ramp and away from the ring. As Samoa Joe was still unconscious in the wreckage of the announcer's table, Daniels slowly began to come to and realise that he was no longer the Undisputed Champion. Daniels looked through the ropes to see Punk and Homicide celebrating with Chris Jericho who had the Championship belt wrapped around his waist.
