A golden edition of Shockwave opened with the Undisputed C4 Champion, Samoa Joe making his way down to the ring with a head wound still visible from last week's Conchairto suffered from the hands of Christian. Joe picked out a sign from the crowd and showed it to the camera as it warned Christian that Joe was going to kill him! Joe reached the ring, grabbed a microphone but before he could get a word out of his mouth, he was interupted by Chris Benoit. Joe turned to Benoit, giving him a look that told him that he may have made a mistake in interupting.
"Joe, before you bite my head off, I just want to say that I have come out here to offer my help to you tonight. I know that in a couple of weeks time, I'll be going for your title, but right now I hate Edge and Christian just as much as you, so if you want my help to keep Edge out of your match tonight, then I'm willing to help. Other than that, I wish you luck in defending your title"
Joe looked at Benoit with a suspicious eye but soon seemed to warm up to Benoit. Benoit then extended his hand to Joe, but Joe just began to laugh and walked away from him.
"First and foremost, the next time you interupt me, I promise that I will break every bone in your body in half. Just because we tagged last week, doesn't mean that I'm your best friend. If you seem to remember, last week with you as my partner, I got my head crushed in with a steel chair and I don't really enjoy that happened too often. I thank you for your offer of help, but if you notice something, it's that I'm Samoa Joe, and Samoa Joe doesn't need help from anybody. But let me give you a little help in return, in the form of some advice. Don't bother showing up at Vendetta because if you do, it will just delay the inevitable. Look up Samoa Joe in the dictionary and you'll find me under the word dominant! Believe the hype, before it's too late!"
Joe threw the microphone up in the air for Benoit to catch. Benoit couldn't believe what he was hearing as he watched Joe barge his way past him to exit the ring.
Backstage:
CM Punk was shown standing backstage with Mean Gene who asked him how he thought about going into a match with Shawn Michaels, who he ripped into verbally last week.
"Last week you saw me tell Shawn Michaels exactly what I thought about him, and I did it right to his face like a man. This week I decided to turn my attention to Rob Van Dam, but to the surprise of nobody, he's nowhere to be found. Knowing him like I do, I wouldn't bet against him sitting in the darkest corner of this building, smoking a joint and getting as high as a cloud. He claims that it makes him a better athlete, but athletes don't smoke pot Rob, they don't need to. I'm a real athlete. I don't drink, smoke or do drugs, and I am so much better than you because of it. At Vendetta, like the others, I'll beat you silly and take my place as the number one contender!"
Border Brawl
Homicide vs. Colt Cabana
» Cabana shot out of the blocks and caught Homicide offguard, driving elbows into his head and knocking him back into the corner of the ring. Colt connected with several more elbows and then tossed Homicide out of the corner with a hip-toss followed by a second rope dropkick. Colt left the ring to grab a steel chair but as he slid back in, Homicide dropped a leg across his neck and stole the chair away from him, which he then used several times across Colt's back.
» Homicide whipped Cabana into the corner and then threw the chair into his face. Homicide then set up a table on the outside and pulled Colt under the bottom rope by his ankle. The two then exchanged rights until Colt got the upperhand and suplexed Homicide through the table. Back in the ring, Colt attempted a Colt 45 but Homicide rolled over his shoulder and hit a DDT onto the steel chair. Homicide finished the match with a Cop Killa, driving Cabana again into the chair.
Winner: Homicide
Aftermath:
As his hand was being raised by the referee, Homicide noticed that Rey Mysterio was looking on via the big screen. The crowd silenced as they heard Mysterio challenged Homicide to a match to take place at Vendetta, where the feud between them will be settled fair and square. Homicide nodded to accept the challenge, but as the camera pulled back, it was made clear that Mysterio wasn't really backstage, as he was standing behind Homicide on the apron. Homicide slowly turned around as Mysterio springboarded from the top rope and dropkicked him in the chest and sent him under the bottom rope. Homicide went crazy as he made his escape to the back.
Paparazzi Productions:
The fans were treated to a new Paparazzi Productions video as Alex Shelley and Johnny Devine filmed Tony Mamaluke delivering Pizza in a little push bike since his scooter was destroyed last week by the Paparazzi. Tony's bike had a basket on the front with a bell on the bars as he zig zagged down the street, pulling into houses to drop off their food. As Tony went to the door to deliver a Pizza, Johnny Devine run up behind him and rode off on his push bike, which made Shelley lose it laughing. Mamaluke then noticed his bike had been stolen as the video ended.
Tag Team Contest
Christopher Daniels and CM Punk vs. Rob Van Dam and Shawn Michaels
» Punk stood in the middle of the ring and mocked both Michaels and Van Dam, but when the duo entered the ring, Punk quickly made an exit and tagged in Daniels. Daniels hit Michaels with a high knee sending him out of the ring but was rolled up by RVD, but the count was broken at two by Punk who quickly ran in and then back out again. As Van Dam tried to chase Punk, he was caught from behind by a flying elbow strike from the Fallen Angel, and then hit with a reverse DDT.
» Michaels reached in for a tag but was pulled off the apron by Punk, who then knocked him down with a hard clothesline. As the referee argued with Punk and ordered him to return to his own corner, Daniels landed a kick between the legs of RVD and followed it up with the Angel's Wings. With the referee now in position, Daniels went to the corner and performed his Best Moonsault Ever, landing perfectly and gaining the pinfall before Michaels could break it up.
Winners: Christopher Daniels and CM Punk
Aftermath:
As the referee landed his hand down onto the canvas for the third time to end the match, Punk hit the ropes and landed a Shining Wizard onto the Fallen Angel, knocking him onto his back. The crowd were stunned to see Punk turn on his own partner, but he just turned to look at the camera and shrugged his shoulders to say that he couldn't care less. Punk then climbed out of the ring and slowly walked to the back as the last man standing out of the four.
Backstage:
Lance Storm took a moment out of his schedule to talk about his match at Vendetta against Kurt Angle. He said that even though the match was made out of respect, and even though both men had the desire and the capabilities to put on the show stealing match, or even a match of the year candidate, he wanted Kurt to know that he was still looking to get the all important win!
Global Tag Team Championships
Champions, The Hooliganz vs. KENTA and Naomichi Marufuji
» Spanky and London began the match each focusing on an opponent, each with forearm shots to the face, followed by an irish-whip into the ropes and then a Dropsault sending both KENTA and Marufuji through the ropes and onto the outside. Spanky got down on all fours as London ran the ropes and used him as a springboard to launch himself onto his opponents who had just got to their feet. Spanky then jumped from the top rope and splashed down onto KENTA.
» As it seemed his team was being dominated, Liger came out from the back but was closely followed by Styles who evened the sides once more and jumped Liger from behind. As they brawled outside, the match continued in the ring. Styles whipped Liger into the ring, whos arm then tripped London who walked into KENTA. KENTA then lifted London, hit the Go 2 Sleep and as Marufuji dropkicked Spanky from the apron, KENTA covered to get the upset victory.
Winners, and new Tag Team Champions: KENTA and Naomichi Marufuji
Aftermath:
As AJ Styles checked on Spanky and Paul London in the ring, The Rising Sons gathered at the top of the stage and held their gold high in the air for everyone to appreciate. Styles' frustration was over flowing as he shouted abuse at the Rising Sons, who were growing more dominant as the weeks passed. With each member wearing gold, the Rising Sons left with smiles on their faces.
Backstage:
Cameras caught Homicide who was still backstage at the arena, kicking anything away that got in his way. He grabbed things from tables and threw them against the wall before noticing the camera was on him. Homicide then walked up to the camera and shouted at it, saying that at Vendetta to forget about the 619, because he was going to go 5150 on Rey Mysterio! Homicide then grabbed the camera from the cameraman's hands and smashed it to the ground.
Backstage:
Moments before the biggest match in his career, Christian was shown walking through the halls of the building with his brother Edge massaging his shoulders and talking strategy. The scene then cut away to Samoa Joe who walked alone with the Undisputed C4 Championship strapped around his waist with a towel thrown over his shoulder. Finally, Chris Benoit was shown leaving the building with his bags packed, jumping into an awaiting car and driving from the parking lot.
Undisputed C4 Championship
Champion, Samoa Joe vs. Christian
» After the stand-off, Christian launched into a right, but Joe blocked it and knocked Christian down with a slap across the face. Joe threw Christian into the corner and drove some elbows into his temple followed by a running high knee. Joe whipped Christian into the opposite corner and tried for the high knee again, but Christian ducked down and Joe hit the turnbuckle with his knee and fell out of the ring. Christian run up behind Joe and kicked his knee from behind.
» Even though the referee ordered him to return to the ring, Christian continued to work on the knee of Joe outside the ring, whipping him into the steel steps. He then snapped up two steel chairs and slid one into the ring, and as the referee turned to remove it, Christian used the other chair and cracked it across Joe's knee. In the ring, Christian attempted to lock on an STF but Joe used his free leg to kick Christian in the face and knock him away from his knee.
» Christian bounced right back up and ran at Joe who pie-faced him back down to the mat as he returned to his feet. Christian ducked under a clothesline and attempted a chop-block, but Joe saw it coming and jumped over Christian and dropped a legdrop across his back. Joe limped back to his feet, whipped Christian into the ropes and knocked him down with a kick straight to the face. With the crowd on their feet, Joe locked on the Kokita Clutch for the submission.
Winner, and still Undisputed Champion: Samoa Joe
Aftermath:
Edge ran down to the ring with a steel chair in hand and the scene was beginning to look very similar to that of last week. Edge swang the chair but Joe punched it out of his hand. Edge was shocked as Joe got to his feet and got right into his face, but Christian chop-blocked his knees away and the two-on-one attack began. A scene from the parking lot showed Benoit arriving back in the arena and soon he was running down the ramp to help Joe. Benoit and Joe this time managed to fight off Edge and Christian, throwing them over the top rope. However, when Benoit turned to Joe, he was leveled with a clothesline. Joe picked Benoit up, sat him on the top turnbuckle and executed a Muscle Buster, knocking Benoit out. Joe then grabbed a microphone and announced to the world that Chris Benoit had just made his second mistake!
