Los Angeles, California

Announce Team: Jim Ross and Tazz

Live from the home of the Global Wrestling Alliance, the show kicked off in a huge way with the return of former 2-time World Champion, Chris Jericho. Jericho recieved a generous ovation from the crowd who were obviously pleased to see him back. Chris attempted to turn against the crowd, but eventually admitted that he was happy to be back, and enjoyed hearing the live crowd reaction once again.

The emotional moment was quickly cut off by Shelton Benjamin and his agent Paul Heyman who wasn't as pleased as the crowd to see Chris Jericho again. Paul said that with another personality, another ego around the place like Jericho's, it will once again push out someone with as much talent as Shelton Benjamin out of the limelight, and he wasn't going to sit back and take it. Jericho shot back at Heyman reminding him that the last time that he was in the middle of a ring with Shelton Benjamin, the so-called talented athlete was counting the lights.

Paul Heyman said that since they were jogging memories, Heyman told Jericho about the last time that the two men met, Jericho actually had to stoop down to the level of cheating to beat someone who is obviously the greater athlete. With a smirk on his face, Jericho said that it was obvious that they would have to agree to disagree, unless Paul Heyman was willing to put his client's reputation on the line with a one-on-one match. Heyman replied, anytime, anyplace, anywhere!

Streets of Los Angeles:

Colt Cabana was on the streets of LA presenting a special edition of his backstage interview segment known as "Good Times, Great Memories". Colt opened up with these words, "You'd think after seeing me being pinned by Christian and a low blow, that I would be depressed and unhappy, but that's just not the case, and how could it be when I'm here in the great city of Los Angeles. I thought I'd grab a camera and take you for a tour of this city and introduce you to do some Christian's biggest fans, or as he likes to call them, his "Peeps". Excuse me sir, may I ask you a question?".

Colt then pulled a gentleman aside and asked him if he was one of Christian's Peeps, to which the man replied, "I'm sorry, I don't have any loose change!". Colt turned to the camera with a huge smile on his face, proclaiming, "They love you here in LA! The Christian Coalition can be found everywhere!". Colt tried again, this time getting the attention of a young woman, who just shrugged past him, telling him to "Get out of my way!". Once again, Colt commented, "I'm almost overwhelmed with the love from these people, your people, your "Peeps"! Hopefully I'll be seeing alot more of them, and alot more of you Christian. This has been "Good Times, Great Memories" with me, Colt Cabana, live from Los Angeles!".

Junior Grand Prix Championship
Champion, Rey Mysterio vs. Austin Aries vs. Jimmy Yang

  • Both of the challengers began the match by teaming up, forcing Mysterio into the corner and taking turns hitting him with an offensive move. Rey began to fight his way out, knocking Yang through the ropes, but with his back turned, he was easy pray for Aries who hit him with a high knee attack. Aries focused on Rey's back, lifting him up and driving him back into the turnbuckles.

  • Aries set Mysterio up for the Brainbuster, but Yang returned to the ring and hit him with a low dropkick to the knee, causing him to fall forward. Mysterio used Aries' momentum to turn the move into a DDT. Yang ran at Mysterio, who side-stepped, throwing Yang over the top rope. Yang landed on the apron, pulled Rey's mask as he jumped from the apron, guillotining Mysterio's neck.

  • As Mysterio staggered back into the ring, Aries hooked his head under his arm and hit a huge reverse DDT. As he covered, Yang springboarded from the top rope, hitting Aries with a legdrop. Rey tripped Yang onto the ropes, following with the 619. As Mysterio jumped to the top rope, Matt Hardy pushed him into Yang who caught him with a sick Powerbomb and covered him for the win.

Winner, and new JGP Champion: Jimmy Yang

    Aftermath:

The crowd showered the ring with a chorus of boos as Matt Hardy slid into the ring. A dazed Rey Mysterio began to climb to his feet, using Hardy's own outfit to do so. Hardy looked across the crowd and then took Mysterio back down to the canvas with a Twist of Fate. Matt hit his trademark V1 pose and then left the scene of the crime with a sick smirk upon his face.

    Backstage:

Mean Gene knocked on a locker room door, obviously awaiting for an interview. When the door slowly began to open, a cloud of smoke poured out of the gap, and soon Rob Van Dam peered around the door, smiled and welcomed Mean Gene. Gene asked Rob Van Dam how he was preparing for his match against Kurt Angle on next week's Shockwave, and he said that he was in deep meditation, and was evolving onto a further level mentally, physically and spiritually. Mean Gene then asked Rob what his thoughts were about Kurt Angle attacking him with a steel chair several weeks ago, just to get a World Title shot. Rob said that he was cool with whatever Kurt had to do, because karma has a way of catching people up, and soon enough, their would be a new World Champion, and his name would be Rob.. Van.. Dam! Rob then closed the door, leaving Mean Gene coughing into the mic.

    "Straight Edge or Die" Contest
    CM Punk vs. Chris Sabin

  • As Sabin began to climb into the ring, Punk charged at him and drove his knee into Sabin's ribs, knocking him off of the apron and into the guard rail. After connecting with several striking right fists, Punk whipped Sabin head first into the steel ring steps, and then followed with a running dropkick. Back in the ring, and Punk continued the attack, forcing Sabin into the corner and chopping his chest.

  • Punk attempted an irish whip, but Sabin countered, sending Punk into the turnbuckle, and then he followed with a Clothesline taking Punk down. In the corner, Sabin set Punk up for a Superplex, but Punk hit a couple of rights into the ribs and set up the Pepsi Plunge. Just as he attempted the move, Sabin countered, lifting Punk onto his shoulders and hit the Cradle Shock! for the win.

    Winner: Chris Sabin

    Aftermath:

After the bell had sounded, Punk couldn't believe that he had lost. When he saw the smile on Chris Sabin's face, he instantly became a bad loser, rolled out of the ring and escaped through the crowd. Just as Punk reached an exit, a group of security guards ascended on him and dragged him to the backstage area.

    Backstage:

The group of security guards dragged CM Punk into an office where Steve Austin was awaiting him with a cooler full of beer. Punk was then placed in a chair and held down as Steve poured beer into Punk's mouth, who then began to spit it out. Steve then hit Punk over the head with a full can of beer, and continued the beer bash with an unconcious CM Punk.

    Tag Team Contest
America's White Trash vs. Impact Players
(Winner gets Dawn Marie's contract, and a Tag Title match)

  • Lance and Justin checked up on Dawn Marie, which allowed America's White Trash to attack from behind and instantly take the advantage. They didn't hold it for long, because after a double irish-whip, both Storm and Credible knocked White Trash down with a double clothesline. Justin threw Noble over the top rope, leaving Lance Storm to work over AJ Styles in the ring.

  • Team Canada made their way down to ringside to watch over the match as the action continued. After a missed chairshot, Justin Credible felt the chair as it was kicked back into his face by Noble. In the ring, Styles picked Lance Storm up for the Styles Clash, but Lance grabbed hold of Styles' leg and rolled through to lock on the Straight Shooter for the eventual submission victory.

    Winners: Impact Players

    Aftermath:

Dawn Marie began to celebrate, but her smiles didn't last long as all three members of Team Canada slid into the ring and attacked Lance Storm. Justin Credible tried to make the save, but he also fell victim to the Canadian beat-down. Bobby Roode and Eric Young held Lance Storm by his arms as Petey Williams screamed in his face and then slapped him to rub salt into the wounds. The attack was once again finished off nicely with Bobby Roode executing a huge Spiral Powerbomb.

    Backstage:

Shawn Michaels approached Chris Benoit and told him that he had his sympathy. Shawn knew how much Chris had been through since getting the World Title, and that comes with the territory, but he said nobody deserves to have their son kidnapped. Shawn added that he knew that Raven was going to try something tonight, so if Chris needed his help, Shawn would have his back. Chris thanked Shawn and wished him luck in his match.

    GWA North American Championship
Champion, Christopher Daniels vs. Shawn Michaels

  • With The Oracle stood at ringside, Shawn Michaels had to keep an eye open on the back of his head. They locked up with Shawn going behind and taking Daniels down to the canvas. Aries jumped up onto the apron but was quickly shot down by Michaels with a forearm. Daniels saw the opening and rolled HBK up for a quick two count, but was struck by a dropkick as Michaels kipped back up.

  • The two exchanged offense, with both men hitting the ropes and colliding with a clothesline. Allison tripped the referee up, Aries entered the ring and sized HBK up with a chair. The lights then went out in the arena, and the ring posts burst into flames. Kane then appeared in the ring, Chokeslammed Aries out of the ring, and Tombstoned Daniels, allowing HBK to take the match and the title.

Winner, and new North American Champion: Shawn Michaels

    Aftermath:

Michaels escaped with his title belt, but all eyes were on Kane who had re-entered the ring and stood over the fallen Oracle members. Kane, who's emotions were hidden behind his mask lifted his arms into the air and slammed them down to his sides, once again igniting the turnbuckles into flames. The arena was then filled with a red glow as Kane left the ring and left Allison to pick up the pieces.

    Backstage:

Mean Gene tried to get a word with Kane who had now made his way to the backstage area. Mean Gene asked Kane why he had just cost Daniels the title, to which Kane responded, "Christopher Daniels fancies himself the reaper of damned souls.. well hell is getting pretty full, so I'm going to be the one to put the man out of business, and out of his misery.. and take him back down with me!".

    Inside the Arena:

As the Steel Cage began to lower around the ring, a video package was shown documenting the vast history between Randy Orton and Ric Flair stretching back a year to when Ric Flair debuted by Randy's side at Wildfire 2004.

    Steel Cage Contest
'Legend Killer' Randy Orton vs. 'Nature Boy' Ric Flair

  • After an intense stare down between the two men, they locked up, but it wasn't long before Flair broke up the hold with an eye-poke, going back to his roots. Flair then began to work over Orton's leg, setting him up for a Figure Four. Flair whipped Orton into the ropes, tripped him down to the canvas and then locked in an STF, ripping at Orton's knee and leg area, doing even more damage.

  • Flair pinned Orton against the ropes and chopped him across the chest, attempted an irish-whip, but Orton held onto Flair's arm, pulled him back and slammed him face first into the Steel Cage wall, splitting him open. Like a shark, as soon as he smelt blood, Orton went in for the kill and gouged at the cut, grating Flair's face against the steel like it were a cheese grater.

  • Orton ran the ropes and attempted an RKO, but Flair pushed him away and Orton landed with his legs split across the top rope. This gave Flair time to crawl towards the door and touch the ground with his hands, but Orton dragged him back by his leg and wrapped him into the Figure Four Leglock. Flair screamed in pain with blood covering his face, but soon had no choice but to tap out.

    Winner: 'Legend Killer' Randy Orton

    Aftermath:

As Orton's hand was raised in victory, a look of shock appeared across his face as he finally realised that he had defeated Ric Flair with the Figure Four Leglock. The cage was raised allowing Orton to escape the ring and pose at the top of the stage, however he dropped to his knees with exhaustion. As the camera's faded to black, Orton pointed at Flair and gave a cut-throat hand gesture signalling that Flair was now simply another legend killed by the Legend Killer.

    Backstage:

In a dingy room, lit only by candles, Raven talked through the main-event with Samoa Joe who was transfixed by the flame. Raven told Joe that now that Benoit was softened up emotionally and mentally, it was time to finish the job and break every bone in his body to join his broken spirit. Samoa Joe then snapped into the moment and told Raven that he was going to snap Benoit in half and become the World Heavyweight Champion. Raven told Joe to calm down because the plan was only to soften Benoit up for Raven, and then Joe could have his real shot. Joe stood up and told Raven that he was calling the shots from now on.

    World Heavyweight Championship
Champion, Chris Benoit vs. Samoa Joe

  • Benoit began the match strongly, forcing Joe into the corner, but Joe's power advantage was soon evident as he burst back out of the corner and sent Benoit crashing to the canvas. Benoit quickly rolled back to his feet but was caught by a Sidewalk Slam into a chokeslam. Benoit went for the Crossface, but Joe pushed Benoit away, attempted a running clothesline, but Benoit hit a low dropkick.

  • Once again, Benoit went for the Crossface to which Joe struggled out of, slamming Benoit down to the canvas. The Samoan Submission Machine then ran the ropes and attempted a huge running kick, but Benoit ducked out of the way and the referee took the kick straight to the face. Benoit then took Joe down to the mat and locked in the Crossface, and Joe began to tap out.

  • Raven appeared through the crowd and began to put the boots to Benoit's head, breaking the Crossface. Shawn Michaels then stormed down to the ring, clotheslined Raven from the ring and sent Joe crashing to the canvas with some Sweet Chin Music. Benoit draped his arm across Joe's chest, and as the referee slowly re-gained consciousness, he counted the three count.

Winner, and still World Champion: Chris Benoit

    Aftermath:

It didn't take long for Samoa Joe to come back to his senses, and once he did, he locked his eyes straight onto Shawn Michaels. Shawn congratulated Chris Benoit on his victory, but also couldn't keep his eyes off of the ring and the obvious threat given by Joe. The night came to a close with Benoit holding the title aloft.
