Barcelona, Esp - Continuing the European Tour, Shockwave opened up live from Barcelona, Spain where it was just as hot inside the arena as it was outside. For the sixth time in the history of the Global Wrestling Alliance, it was the Night of Champions with three titles on the line.
GWA North American Championship
Champion, Shawn Michaels vs. 'Nature Boy' Ric Flair
When Randy Orton said that Ric Flair had no intention on winning the match, he wasn't kidding, as on multiple occassions he got up on the apron to grab the referee's attention, whilst Ric Flair would prove he was the 'Dirtiest Player in the Game' and pull out one of his old tricks. However, it wasn't long before Ric began to work over the knee, to set up Shawn for the Figure Four. Ric whipped Shawn into the corner, but HBK countered, and sent Ric head-over-heels.
Still slightly limping on one knee, Shawn pinned Flair into the corner and chopped across his chest, recieving the Flair "Whoo's" from the Spanish crowd. Ric switched it over and began to give Shawn some chops in return. As Shawn ran the ropes, Flair ducked through a clothesline attempt and hit a Back Body Drop sending Shawn down to the mat. Ric then climbed to the top rope, but Shawn caught him in time and threw him back into the middle of the ring.
Shawn began to tune up the band, and when Ric Flair got to his feet he went for some Sweet Chin Music, but Flair caught his boot. Flair then tripped Shawn's other leg so that he fell flat on his back. Ric put his knee into Shawn's leg and then set him up for the Figure Four, but Shawn managed to kick Flair into the ropes and then roll him up on the return. Shawn used the middle rope for added leverage to gain the pinfall victory over the 'Dirtiest Player in the Game'.
Winner, and still North American Champion: Shawn Michaels
Aftermath:
Randy Orton slid into the ring but Shawn managed to get out of the ring before his CyberSlam opponent got to him. Shawn took his title belt up to the stage and posed for the crowd as Orton and Flair looked on with distaste. Shawn blew a kiss to the fans and then walked to the back.
Backstage:
Billy Kidman walked into Steve Austin's office and it seems that Steve had sent for Kidman as Billy asked him what he could do for Steve. 'Stone Cold' said that he was amazed at what he saw last week, but impressed. He said that Billy Kidman showed intensity, because he knew what he wanted, and he wasn't going to get anything less. However, Steve said, the match between Petey Williams and Rey Mysterio was his big money match, and since he didn't want anything to go wrong, he had no choice but to ban outside interference. Kidman understood and said that he had a message to give to Mysterio, but he thought he delivered it last week.
Junior Grand Prix Championship
Champion, Petey Williams (w/ Trish Stratus) vs. Rey Mysterio
Trish Stratus got up onto the apron and tried to take Rey's eye off the ball but as Petey stepped up to blind-side him, Mysterio turned and knocked him down with a straight right hand. Rey whipped Petey into the ropes and hit a Back Body Drop. Rey then tripped Petey into the ropes and ran off for a 619 but Trish managed to drag Petey out of the ring. As Trish tended to Petey, Rey springboarded from the ring and landed on both of the Canadians.
Rey then rolled Petey back into the ring, but Trish grabbed hold of his leg as he tried to follow up on the offense. Petey then ran the ropes and hit a baseball slide, knocking Mysterio back out of the ring. Outside the ring, Petey grabbed Rey by the mask and slammed him face first into the steel ring steps, and then did it once again to make the point clear. Back in the ring, Petey lifted Mysterio onto the top rope and Superplexed him back into the centre of the ring.
Petey went for another suplex but Rey battled out and hit a DDT. Trish then got onto the apron once more and as the referee removed her from ringside, Petey hit Rey with a low blow. Petey then went for the Canadian Destroyer, but Rey lifted Petey up into an Atomic Drop and tripped him again into the ropes. This time Rey connected with the 619 and followed it up with the West Coast Pop. Mysterio then hooked the leg and the referee counted the three!
Winner, and new JGP Champion: Rey Mysterio
Aftermath:
As Rey Mysterio celebrated with the Championship belt, Billy Kidman slid into the ring with a steel chair and wrapped it around Mysterio's spine. Mysterio fell down onto all fours but Kidman didn't give up and continued to dent and destroy the chair on his former friend. As referees checked on Mysterio who looked almost unconcious, Kidman posed with the Cruiserweight title as if he was the one who had just won it. He then dropped the title across Mysterio and left the ring.
Backstage:
America's White Trash spoke about how they were going to be the first team in the GWA's history to hold the Global Tag Team Championships twice. They were ready to continue their speech when AJ Styles noticed that Dawn Marie was nowhere to be seen. Finally Dawn came running onto the scene saying that she was caught up talking to an old friend. Jamie said that she had to be focused on tonight's match because it's the most important in their careers.
In The Arena:
Rob Van Dam made his way down to the ring alongside Bill Alfonso as the crowd sang along to the returning song of "Walk" by Pantera. Rob said that he had heard that Christian and Lance Storm were planning to take him out of the CyberSlam match, but he then said that he'd been hearing that kind of talk for years. Back in ECW, he said, he held onto the Television Title for 23 months, and actually never got pinned to lose it. He's used to having people coming at him with all sorts of strategy, but just like all the times before, he'll come out and be the next World..
Lance Storm then made his way out onto the stage to interupt Rob's promo. Lance said that he may have held onto the Television Title for 23 months, but he lost it when he broke his ankle. Plus, the last time he and Lance had been in the ring together at New Blood Rising, Lance beat RVD to become the North American Champion. Both vulnerability and experience will be the eventual downfall of Mr. Pay Per View, Rob Van Dam.
Just as things were heating up, Captain Charisma came out to throw his two cents into the discussion. He said that it was obvious that Lance Storm and Rob Van Dam had alot of bad vibes towards one another, and so he just came from Steve Austin's office to get an idea of his the go ahead. Next week on Shockwave, Rob Van Dam would go one-on-one with Lance Storm, and to make sure things go the way they should, Christian would serve as Special Guest Referee!
Backstage:
Rey Mysterio refused medical help backstage and burst into Steve Austin's office. Rey said that he wanted have his first title defense at CyberSlam and wanted it to be against Billy Kidman. Steve said that he had always supported the Cruiserweights in GWA, and so he'd grant the match on one condition. If Rey Mysterio lets his emotions get the better of him and gets disqualified at CyberSlam, Billy Kidman will be the new JGP Champion!
Steel Cage Contest (Pinfalls Only)
Matt Hardy Version 1.0 vs. Hurricane Helms
An extensive video package was shown, highlighting the feud between Matt Hardy and Hurricane Helms that has spanned over four months. At the start of the match, Matt wouldn't allow Hurricane into the cage, but the plan soon backfired as Helms slammed the cage door into Hardy's head, knocking him back into the ring. Hurricane then unleashed on Hardy with forearm smashes. Helms then whipped Hardy into the ropes and then threw him into the cage wall.
With the sight of Hardy's blood in his eyes, Hurricane Helms never let off the offense and continued to grate Matt's face across the steel, forcing the wound to open further. Matt did managed to get some shot back in after a obvious low blow kick to the groin. Hardy then ripped Hurricane's mask from his face and catapulted him face first into the steel. Matt then went to the top rope to attempt a Leg Drop, but Helms kicked the ref into him to knock him off his balance.
Hurricane Helms slowly joined Matt upon the top rope. After a short tussle between the two over a Suplex, Hurricane Helms shot back by knocking Hardy's head against the steel and then grabbed his throat for a Chokeslam. The crowd came alive but their hopes were dashed as once again, Matt Hardy hit a low blow. From the top rope, Hardy then hit Helms with a sick looking Twist of Fate. He then turned Hurricane over and hooked a leg as the referee made the count.
Winner: Matt Hardy Version 1.0
Backstage:
Christopher Daniels complained that after an impressive showing during his comeback, he was left off of Night of Champions. But he said that he wasn't going to sit back and bitch, and that he was going to do something about it, and challenged anyone to a match to take place on next week's Shockwave. Chris Sabin tapped Daniels on the shoulder and said that he knew how it felt to be forgotten after an impressive run as JGP Champion. Sabin said that he craved the spotlight, and if he had to step on Daniels to get it, then so be it.
Backstage:
Eddie Guerrero walked up to AJ Styles and told him that he would be watching his match tonight against Spanky and Paul London. Style said that he should, because he may just learn something after ending up on the losing side last week. Eddie said that if it were just a straight match, no egos interfering, he would be in the Tag Title match and be wearing the gold. AJ laughed and said that Eddie's dream is beautiful, but in reality, AJ is the real deal in the GWA!

America's White Trash vs. Spanky and Paul London
As shown in their entrance, Spanky and Paul London exploded out of the blocks and took control of the match with some fast paced offense, double teaming Jamie Noble over the top rope with a clothesline, and then a double back body drop on AJ Styles. Noble ran in and was too hit with a Dropsault which also turned into a Moonsault onto Styles for a two count.
Spanky lifted Styles to the top rope and was about to attempt a Hurricanrana but Noble jumped to the second rope and springboarded up, hitting Spanky with a dropkick. Styles then countered the Hurricanrana with a second rope Styles Clash. Noble hit a baseball slide knocking London back out of the ring as the referee counted Spanky down. Styles went straight for the second fall but Spanky got a shoulder up at two, even as Styles had a handful of tights.
Paul London stood on the apron and jumped over the top rope and caught AJ Styles with the headscissors. Noble went for a clothesline but London ducked through, lifted him up and dropped him with an Atomic Drop followed by Sliced Bread #2 from Spanky to even the score at one fall each. Spanky hit Noble with a Powerbomb that looked to be followed up with a 450 Splash, but Dawn Marie run across the apron and took out one of London's legs.
Using the destraction, Styles clubbed Spanky from the ring with a forearm smash. Styles then climbed to the second rope and set up for a Superplex but Spanky returned to the ring and went between Styles' legs and on his shoulders, walked him towards the centre of the ring. Spanky then fell backwards, dropping Styles to the mat as London came from the top rope with a 450 Splash! Noble crawled to break the count but Spanky held him back as the three went down!
Winners, and new Tag Team Champions: Spanky and Paul London
Backstage:
Chris Benoit opened the door of his locker room to leave for his match but Raven stood in his way. Chris told Raven to get out of his way, but Raven was never one to relent and stood firm. He said he was disappointed at the tone of voice Benoit was using, and it was obvious he hadn't come around to the idea that Raven was infact Benoit's guardan angel. Benoit said that he didn't have time to get into this again, and walked away from Raven. Raven shook his head and said that it was only a matter of time, because wherever Benoit would go, Raven wouldn't be far.

World Champion, Chris Jericho and John Cena vs. Chris Benoit
As Chris Benoit stood in the centre of the ring, ready for action, Chris Jericho and John Cena stood at seperate sides of the ring, attempting to surround the Rabid Wolverine. The two slid into the ring together but Benoit managed to fight both men off by sharing out his right fists equally. Soon though the numbers were too strong and Cena and Jericho had him pinned in the corner. Then, The Rock's music hit and the former Owner of GWA ran down to the ring.

He then said that being it was the Night of Champions, he challenged Chris Jericho to put his World Championship on the line. Jericho pulled himself to his feet and slapped Guerrero across the face, and the match began.

After taking both The Rock's and Chris Benoit's signiture moves, Jericho was immediately on the backfoot as Guerrero took it to him in the corner. After a couple of chops across the chest, Guerrero whipped Jericho into the opposite corner and followed up living Jericho up and over with a high Back Body Drop. Eddie stepped out onto the apron and attempted an over the rope Senton but Jericho got his knees up into Guerrero's back to swing the match into his favour.
Jericho grabbed Guerrero's legs and attempted to lock in the Walls of Jericho, but Guerrero spun himself around and sent Jericho flying across the ring. Eddie kicked Jericho in the mid-section and went through the motions of hitting the Three Amigos, seeing Jericho up for the end.
